can an original T39 Dummy be used for replacing housing of the T39?
or is the design different?

I don't think so.
The dummys are exactly that. Just a lump of plastic in the shape of a phone. As far as I know they're not made up of useable phone cases.

From expereince I would say don't bother. I bought a dummy P800 phone to replace my beaten up facia. The dummy's come apart and at first glance look like they'll fit. They don't though. There are just enough differences to make it not go together, most annoying.
