help pls!!! any suggestions are most welcome.

i currently own a z600 which i purchased in greenhills last september 2003 and a p800 which my tito just gave me 2 weeks ago. i started having problems when i got the p800. syempre being the "newer phone" i transfered my globe postpaid sim in the p800, and put a smart prepaid card in the z600. everything worked fine for about a week, i even loaded a new call card sa smart, got to make some calls. etc. suddenly i open the z600 the next day and INVALID MOBILE comes out on the screen. so sabi ko, baka sira na smart sim card ko kase i had it for a long time without any load,( pero i loaded on it na ha). so the next day, i got another smart sim and placed it on the phone and the same message comes out. INVALID MOBILE PA RIN. pero if i put the smart sim in the p800 it WORKS. and if i return the globe sim to the z600 it works. so i called smart. they told me to just have my phone fixed in semicon.

so i went to semicon last tuesday. funny thing is. eventhough globe worked and smart didn't, when i got to semicon, BOTH DIDN'T WORK NA. pero SUN CELLULAR ok pa. semicon tried to upgrade, ayaw daw matuloy ang upgrade. they told me to go to SE main in mkt.

i usually get lost in makati so i took the advise of a friend who said smartnet in buendia can fix it. i got the same reply. go to SE in salcedo.

ok fine. when i got to SE, after just 10 mins, of upgrading my software, even changed it from asian latin to euro to china, wala. SIRA DAW MOTHERBOARD. junk the phone.

imagine just how frustrated i was when i heard this. i barely had the phone for 6 months, all the time using globe. and when i finally decided to put a smart sim card, nasira pa. open line naman ang phone. so i called SE USA and spoke to them. they never heard of an invalid mobile error EVER.

finally, got to virramall again and asked around from some friends. i got this feedback. my phone is blocked by NTC daw. basta ayaw gumana ang smart and globe pero ok pa ang sun, ntc yan.

is this true? i have been using my z600 since sept and suddenly it dies to globe and smart? what can i do? i even went to the webpage of ntc and typed in my imei number to check kung blocked phone na . wala naman data.

please help. my phone has been to semicon, to smartnet, to se in salcedo, to even in citilight in ghills, no one can help. maybe some of you know or share the same experience at one point or another.

any advice will be most welcome,

michelle

sorry to hear about that, but the moral of the story is never to buy any greenhills units. they might be cheaper, but many times they are stolen and possibly blocked units, or if there is a serious problem, they will not replace the unit if there is a serious defect, unlike with an authorized dealer.

try inquiring with globe and smart whether they have blocked your phone from their networks. if they haven't, then maybe it is a hardware failure.

usually as a rule i try and buy phones from semicon being an ericsson fan since the t68 came out. but when the z600 came out, i just fell in love with the phone and couldn't wait for it to be available in semicon. yah. i learned my lesson. it's just weird. i bought the phone (i checked the O.R.) last oct 12, 2003. then when i FINALLY got through NTC, they did confirm its blocked since feb 22, 2004 with globe and smart. they have asked me to bring the box, and everything it came with. thank god i kept even the plastics it came with. =).

the weird thing is, this is not the first z600 that i have bought for myself and my family. when they saw my phone, my mom and sister bought too. and all in the same week. it's just my phone that got blocked. so if this was really a stolen unit elsewhere, wouldn't their phones be blocked too?

maybe the owners of the other phones did not report them to the NTC. you have to send affidavits etc to the NTC, then they will have the phone blocked on all networks.

i guess the bright side is that there is nothing wrong with the hardware. not much consolation, but...

what will the NTC do with the phone once you give it to them? will they help you get your money back?

uhmm.. yeah, never buy in gh, but a store in SM doesn't guarantee you that all their units are brand new, i know some stores in sm north edsa that've also got stores in greenhills, so better yet, buy only from semicon, memo express, etc.

anyway, about that... NTC will probably try to trace who was the original owner of the phone.

when i bought a second hand t28s, it just caused me a lot of head aches. the phone went good for a couple of days, then totally broke down after a week or two. i brought it to semicon to fix it, then they said that the phone's main board was damaged, it had to be replaced upon my consent, so i agreed, then they entered the IMEI to their database and FOUND OUT that the phone was once brought to SEMICON megamall for a repair and was named to someone else, what they did (thinking it was stolen).. was, they informed me that they already had the phone's record, then they called up the phone's former owner and confirmed if the phone wasn't really stolen, the owner said she sold the phone already, and i happened to be the buyer.

i just told this story to support my statement, that NTC 'might' trace the original owner of the phone because that phone definitely has records, just so, to inform the orig. owner.

bottom line, never buy in GH... or if you'll buy a "second hand", never buy the phone if the seller will not turn over his O.R., every transaction must have an OR. buying without OR is somewhat illegal, (uhmm... ???), or if you dont have the OR, you can be accused as an accessory to crime if the phone is proved to be stolen.

finally, hope. ntc asked me to bring my box and OR. and phone to them. i thought, okay. everything will be cleared na. i have everything with me. only to find out THE IMEI OF THE BOX AND THE IMEI OF MY PHONE DON'T MATCH. then i remembered. when i bought this phone last year, i exchanged it the next day because there was a line in the screen when in camera mode. i brought the box and got a new unit. i didn't bother to check if the imei matched. in short. they just exchanged the phones and not the boxes. so whoever bought the unit with the box with the imei of my phone, and got his phone stolen, reported the imei of that box to ntc.

sus. ang malas ko. wrong box na, nanakaw pa ang unit nya. so the only copy of his imei was in the box. the box that was supposed to be mine.

i wonder how in the world will i explain this to ntc. what proof do i have. yes i have the box and the OR. pero they don't match. ntc will certainly think stolen phone. i heard that they confiscate the phone if ever. now i'm thinking twice of even going.

i wanted to call them up and ask for the info of the guy who reported his unit lost. but it seems useless. that information is confidential.

funny thing is. his effort was in vain. whoever stole his z600, is still using that phone. only i have the copy of that imei. it's in my box.
