Called up SE regarding my P900 that had the LCD broken. I'm guessing the person who origionally stole my phone broke it somehow. A girl had found it laying next to the street infront of my school - THANK GOD!
No scratches on the phone, and the glass screen is perfect - who knows why?!

Anyways back to the topic. Called SE to get my phone repaired, origionally when I called a week ago a woman said it would run me about $200 bills, so when I called today I had my credit card handy. The person I worked with today set it up for me to mail my phone to Solectron USA in North Carolina to have it fixed, he said it would take 15-20 days. Finally he tells me "Thanks for calling Sony Ericsson, have a nice day." and I click... and then it hits me, HE DIDN'T ASK FOR MY CREDIT CARD #!!! WOAH! Is it being repaired for free, or will I get a bill with my phone? How weird is this... maybe I got lucky because I said the phone was still under warranty, who knows. Any ideas? IMHO Sony Ericsson service rocks!

I work at CompUSA, & TAP will cover screen damage plus whatever cannot be considered as abuse. If i did not work there, iwould have a hard time believing it, but it is worth it.

They facilitate repairs & replacements through the manufacturer on anything besides computers. Sometimes they will replace an item in the store.

CompUSA TAP?!?! Don't even get me started. I don't know if any of you are ex-handspring users (Visors or Treo) but when I purchased a Handspring Visor Prism a while ago, i bought the TAP service with it too, thinking just incase i broke the PDA, i was covered. Little did I know it only allowed you to replace the PDA once. I had it replaced about 3 or 4 times, because they didn't catch it. Finally someone in charge cought on, and told me I couldn't have it replaced this time. Now the screen was broken, and I needed a new 1 bad. COMPUSA definatly skrewed me (no offense to you), they even changed their TAP policy and I never recieved a copy of the new one... which I began to believe was illegal to do. They they changed their policy to NOT cover accidental screen problems, like the glass cracking. So i was skrewed, and thats my bad COMPUSA/TAP story never again will I purchase such an item from compusa!

@watervillekid

Sounds suspiciously like you abused their policy and cried foul when they caught you. If you're going to rape them for free exchanges, do you expect them to thank you and offer you another one when they catch on?

at least i didn't have to say it.

i'm no posterchild for CompUSA, nor am i mad at you for being slick, but you are being hypocritical. BTW, they do still cover screen damages. MAYBE NOT for you, since they caught on to your scam, but it is in their policy. the only thing that has changed is no more 'in-store replacement' of PDA's. they send it off, and, upon approval, replace it with a refurbished unit or repair it.
