Ok, over the past few weeks, MMS and GPRS internet has been patchy @ best. It really has started to annoy me, so Saturday, I went into my local Orange shop, and spent abotu 20mins talking to one of the WireFree tech guys...

He sent me MMS / GPRS Configurators from the web, that had no effect.

He then sent some 'update' after, which proceeded to solve the problem... I could once more actually connect to GPRS, and browse stuff...

Sunday, I tried again, to send a MMS ... and connect to pages via GPRS, and NOTHING ... back to be before, it would just time out.

In the past, things, like I say HAVE worked, but currently don't seem to. I am starting to wonder if its actually Orange's problem, and not mine.

Today I spent 30mins on my fone, going step by step thru all the MMS settings, we did all that ... It appeared I didn't have any User ID password

(which for the Record are: )

User: 'Orange'
Pass: 'Multimedia'
However this didn't do a THING either... He then spent 5 mins umming and arring, and told me he had sent me an update... apparently JUST like they did on Saturday.. That was 20 mins ago, i've not got it.

So, I'm turning to you guys... Can anyone Help, or report they too have problems with Orange over this? It really is starting to P*ss me off now...

.Anticipate some response, Cheers

Steve

It can sometimes be troublesome to get GPRS working with some phones. The beest thing you can do us to ring back and suggest that the CS person remove all GPRS/MMS from your account and then put it back. This has worked for me before This message was posted from a WAP device

This is probably due to orange being a completely useless bunch of rip-off artists. It's a little known fact that orange was actually a company set up as a joke by the japanese and was never meant to be taken seriously, and most of their network is run by highly trained monkeys with calculators and tape recorders. Hope that helps. This message was posted from a T610

I would have to take issue with you here - on personal experience only of course.

I have mostly found the CS operators at orange very helpful and knowledgeable. Only on a few occasions have I had problems. Normally thanking them and then phoning back will get someone more helpful.

The data support people (on 156) seem to know what they are doing and have always managed to sort out problems promptly.

As to Orange being "a rip off", My bills have certainly reduced since moving to orange - with no noticeable reduction in usage or quality

That funny mate. Orange was started by Hutchinson in Hong Kong. Looks like shagging all those sheep is mashing your brain up.

LOL @ bernifreshmann

Interesting stuff guys ... hmmm... I'll call back. What I can't understand is, whatever 'update' they sent me saturday, stopped working... I never changed any settings, and hardly used GPRS over the weekend / week. *sigh*

I'm the proud owner of a P800 on Orange. From experience I've found most of the Orange techies don't actually know that much, some do though. I went to the Sony/Ericsson web site and got their own configorators to set my phone to Orange. They worked a treat for everything, SMS, MMS, GPRS, WAP, the lot. Give them a go.
I don't think the problem is the Orange network as I use GPRS and MMS quite a lot and have never had a problem.
Good luck

@mwright
Well your very lucky then, after orange tried to rip me off for £150 and having three of their reps tell me it "wasn't their problem" i ended up having to go to oftel about it, and then suddenly i get an apology from orange admitting it was their mistake, and my money back. since then i have had to contact them twice more after "mistakes" on my bills where they overcharged me. I dread to think how much extra they make from these "mistakes" from ppl who dont check their bills properly.

@bbernifreshmann
thats really clever of you, do you get the geeky facts book and joke book free with the sense of humour bypass?

OK i messed around with settings and stuff, and somehow managed to get it to work... Only problem now is this weird symbol comes up with incoming or outgoing GPRS connections...

Err... well I sent myself an MMS, and my dad sent me one too... I just recieved both... I've never 'timed' MMS, but they seem to take a few mins @ least to come through, maybe 10, is that normal? I've never cared before, just curious.

Anyhow, currently, all is fine, but this icon is annoying me. When you hit it... @ the top of the window is 'Incoming calls'

the message says:

Calls not allowed (GPRS)

...Which it proceeds with a 'settings' button...

I don't know why its there, it doesn't appear to inhibit my internet or mms @ all... but is plainly an annoyance, any ideas?

@Neyo

Go to Control Panel>Connections>Internet Accounts>Other and change "Preferred Mode" from GPRS Only to Automatic.

That will get rid of your icon.

@Aled - Go to www.hateorange.co.uk and vent your anger there, might be a better forum for it. You get experiences of good, bad and appalling service from most CSRs at networks, but eventually you come to realise that they're all as bad as each other and you give up whingeing, or take your business elsewhere.
