Ok, I've phoned O2 to cancel my contract, they say they will get back to me within 48 hours...I'm sure they will but I think thats pretty messed up, as it will overrun my contract so I have to pay another month

Anyway my query is when I cancel the contact, what will O2 do? Make the Sim card a Pay As You Go one? Make it unusable? Tell me the Sim cards invalid on my phone hence blocking my phone from my use without buying another sim card? In such as case am I better off backing up all my numbers on my PC as I may never get to them again?

Thanks for any help.

Usually you have to give a months notice to cancel a contract. I think after cancelling the sim becomes unusable, I am not sure though

i cancelled my o2 contract not long ago and the SIM gets cancelled and so becomes unusable - they do send you a PAYG SIM though

The SIM will be disconnected from the network, but you will still be able to access all stored info (e.g. phone numbers) indefinitely.

Instead of cancelling, though, you could downgrade to PAYG instead. Keep the line active and use a PAYG SIM in a spare phone?
