Hi forum,
Wondering if anyone knows of a map application available for UK. I know there's GPS systems etc, but I'm looking for a basic map that you can zoom in etc. This would be handy when out runs on my motorbike, or even if going somewhere by car, getting lost etc.

Or any programmers out there want to make one!!!

Bit of a problem, apparently - the amount of memory the maps take up. For example, there's a good London streets map, available on www.my-symbian.com (can't remember exactly where but shouldn't be hard to find). However, the map is diivided into 9 tiles, each of which needs 1.5Mb of memory, and the app itself requires about 5Mb. So, it would take several Duos for a complete UK map, I would imagine!

Better to stick to a conventional A-Z for now

A non-GPS version of www.wayfinder.com is very cheap and allows downloading of maps when you need them. The actual data download is very little. You'd be pushed to download as much as 1mb per month.

Or you could use 'find nearest' on Orange World - which seems to have come back to life in the last couple of days having disapeared before Christmas.

Gives you a local streetmap of where you are - and finds nearest cash machine/pub/restaurant etc and gives you walking or driving directions.

Not bad - but in the 5 or 10 mins play I've had, not QUITE impressive enough to really rely on.
