Im trying to use the SE P900 update service for the first time. Im doing everything right (i hope), but when I actually goto start the upgrade, it just hangs on page and says "Checking for the SE Update service". It doesnt do anything after that.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanx!!!

@desiboy.

Mine does exactly the same!

I downloaded the latest Update Service software (Ver 1.15) and installed it and rebooted.

Then I go to the SE Update service and go through all the screens (check CDA, Back Up, Agree Licence etc. etc.) until I get to what is I presume the last hurdle before download. The browser window says 'Checking the Installation of Update Service software'

And that's it! This window will sit there for an hour if I let it. No Hard disk activity and no modem activity just sitting there doing FA....

Anybody know what the problem is? (I've tried with Firewall turned off... Same Result).

I did a search for "checking the installation of sony ericsson update service" because I recalled a few people having this problem.

and found this thread which seems to have a good answer

p900 update service / problems / Q&A

@mass

Thanks for that. I did do a search and looked through
the first two pages or so.

I suppose it depends on what one searches for, what?

Right! I've done everything suggested in the linked topic above:

Installed new Sun Java VM

Installed new SE PC Sync Suite

Removed Power lead from sync station so no charging.

Used Opera browser (Just keeps telling me I haven't installed java when I use this and I have, I have.)

Anyway Long and Short is..... Still hangs in exactly the same place. ie 'Please Wait... Checking Update Service software installation'.

Think I'll just have to suffer all the bugs (duff BT etc) as this just won't work for me.

Anybody have any final thoughts before I give in?

Right! managed to get the update to work

Thanks to all that helped.

Summary of requirements:

Latest SE Sync Software Version
Latest Sun Java VM
Latest SE Update Service Software (SEUS)
Latest Opera browser version
Unplug power lead from cradle
Phone in cradle (turned off)
Disable Virus checker
Disable Firewall

And off it went...

Took about 1 hour on an ISDN connection.

Yeeehaa...

Hi!
Got a question... do you have a branding free p900? Or formally branded p900?
I have also a problem... somehow SE does not update my p900... always the same error...
