can i backup my contacts, sms's and mms's by avoiding synchornisation and only using backup?
ie, are contacts, sms's and mm's copied during the backup process? or can i only do this by synchronising?
thanks in advance..

i think you might mean "avoid a backup and use sync instead"? if that's the case then the answer's no. sync only backs up contacts, email, jotter and calendar. sorry.

well not exactly, i know that sounds right but.....
im trying to firmware upgrade my p900 and of course i need to
do a sync and backup. however, i cant get sync to work and theres a lot of important sms's and mms's that i really cant afford to lose.
therefore is it ok for me to not to sync and hope backup will save all these sms's and mms's ??

Yeah that should be fine afaik. imo backup just does an image of the "c:" drive so when you do a restore you're messages should pop right back

dont count on it 100% though as i have an 800 not a 900.

You could always "manually" back up the c:\system\mail folder, to be sure?!

You can use fileman.
To make your life easier, just do the back-up. And then restore when you finish the firmware update. That's what i did ;D
