I'm trying to encode a few movies and although I can get reasonable quality using the settings for Mpegable on Howard forums the file size is almost 240Mb from an original 1000mb Mpeg-1 file (Top Gun in this case).

I've seen films at less than 128Mb with equal quality.

Can people please let me know what I can do to improve this.
