I know how pop3 operates. I've been using it for many mos. now. I have a pop3 acct w/ softhome and yahoo. Softhome has no problem. Why now I can no longer send messages via my yahoo account? I can still download them just not send them anymore. I had no problem before.

Anyone know why? By the way it's yahoo.de not yahoo.com which has no pop3 account.

FYI
Yes I did a search but no particular answer to my question.

Help appreciated thanks!

Well, since you know pop3 I won't have to remind you that pop3 is primarily only for DOWNLOADING mail.

For sending mail, you need to make sure your SMTP server is set up correctly. Now, it could well be that your SMTP setting is not correct (they changed it) or that Yahoo no longer supports SMTP forwarding.

no you can't use any old SMTP server because most ISPs require you to be connected to their service in order to use their SMTP. This is supposed to help minimise spam

in general you have to use either the SMTP server provided by your mobile operator or one that is offered without the above restriction, which are hard to find. I've never used yahoo for email so I don't know if they provide such an SMTP server to use
