i need help getting my pc and my 610 connected via datable.
Some of my questions - I have bought a datacable for my t610 off ebay and it says on it "t68"...does this cable also work with a t610 or should i have gotten a different one?
I have used the disc that i got with the phone and uploaded all this onto my computer. Then when i connect the phone & datacable to the computer, the stupid stinking image editior doesnt 'see' my t610. I am about to pull my hair out.
I have read some of the other postings using search and have just downloaded Floats Mobile Agent and this isnt helping me either.
Help?

I have a 'T68' datacable which I used with t300 and Z600 and it works perfectly fine for me

I got that off Ebay as well.
Which COM port are you using for your cable? Is this port reserved for fMA?

the phone monitor options lets me reserve a port but doesnt give me an option whereby i can say what its reserved for.
i am using port 2...........on my computer there are 2 side by side on the front panel and they are unnumered so i am guessing that number 2 is the one to the right

Make sure you installed the drivers with the cable unplugged then go through these steps.
Try this..
First have nothing connected follow the instructions below you will connect the cable and the phone last.
*In the phone monitor options make sure the port you are using is enabled and not reserved and that your phone is listed.
* In phone and modem in control panel make sure your regular modem dosnt use com 3 mine does and thats why I had to use com2. Also if you installed sony dial up networking the cel will show there too as another modem(dont worry about that now). plug in cable and look
* In device manager make sure it actually says prolific usb serial cable and theres no yellow tag or you need to reinstall the drivers again and that it matches the other com-port settings. Now make sure that you use the same usb port to plug it in to.
Then go to floats mobile agent window see if you are showing version 31c if not go to help and check for udates.
Then go into options/communications/ disable IRMCsync and obex
Then go to options/connect/ and set to 9600 baud
Restart everything and try to connect you may not get all info from phone but you should be able to send to phone now
Hope this helps-Marcie

The cable drivers should be on the cd that came with it you may have to explore the disk. What OS do you use and what cable is it serial or usb?

i am using windows xp...and the cable is usb
I uninstalled everything and then reinstalled the sony ericsson image editor. Then restarted and put in the cable/phone. It still says that "no t610 series detected".
i just went into the modem diagnostic in phone and modem options and it said...."03-16-2004 16:10:29.828 - Opening the modem device failed with error 00000005".
i am ready to through the computer out the window!
Also the modem offers 9600 but not 9800

If you are using a USB cable, it's UNLIKELY that it is on COM2. Go to Windows Device Manager, and find out what COM port the cable is on. I think you have to look under "Ports(COM & LPT)" or something like that. Then enable the cable COM port on Mobile Phone Monitor inside Control Panel. You don't have to reserve any port, though it doesn't hurt if you do. THIS IS ASSUMING YOU ARE USING THE SE IMAGE EDITOR. If you use Float's mobile agent, you don't need to do anything about Mobile Phone Monitor.
A USB cable MUST have the driver installed for it to work. That driver disk should be included in your cable packaging. If the driver is properly installed, you will see the cable under device manager COM port as indicated above.
If you don't have the driver disk, well..... tough. That's the reason why one should ask all the right questions before buying on eBay. You can try using the SE driver for DCU-10 or DCU-11... since virtually all USB cables use the same "Prolific" chipset and it might work for your cable.
