I want to purchase a P900 but I have heard two different stories as far as it being compatiable with my Cingular service in the Philadelphia Area.

Yes it's compatible. It is triband afterall. Just make sure you get the

"UNBLOCKED"

phones. Some phones especially bought from providers like Cingular, T-Mobile etc. (an example only. Not those companies per se.) make sure the phone only works with them. But if you purchase an OPEN LINE, doesn't matter which country, which provider and so on. Take it from me. Used my phone in several countries w/ several providers. P800.

I live in the Philly area and Mrs.Q is correct. So long as the phone is unlocked u should have no problems.

I may be completely wrong, but I'm sure I've read of one of the USA networks switching to 850MHz. Don't know if it was Cingular, or if it applies to you, but if so the P900 would not be compatible as it only works on 900/1800/1900 MHz.

Just an idea and, as I said, could be completely unfounded.

At&t is developing 850 towers in the U.S. and will no longer be building any 800 or 1900 towers. At&t was taken over by Cingular. I do not know if Cingular has the same plans but i would not be suprized if they do.

i live in NC and have Cingular service. i got a P900 about a month ago and have had wonderful service. Cingular used 850/1800/1900 networks so the P900 works on the 1900 in the US. i had a T616 before the P900 and now i have much better reception. As long as the phone is unlocked it'll be fine. Check out expansys-us.com that's where i got mine. super fast shipping.
