Hi

It it safe to leave my P900 charging in its cradle (USB "DSS-25") ALL DAY long ? (e.g. 12 hours)

The manual only has the vaguest instructions on battery care. I have dutifully charged for 6+ hours and then *fully* discharged it. And I have now done this twice (the phone is still v. new to me).

The standard battery ("BST-15" - 1260mAH) calls itself a "Li-Polymer" - something I've not heard of personally, before. (e.g. Is it different from Lithium Aluminium...)

But the girl in the shop said charging for too long can damage the phone. Something about 4 hour charge time... so if I leave it there ALL DAY, say 12 hours will that do damage?

i don't think it will be a problem. similar questions has been asked a lot about ipod, and basically, modern devices are built to shut down charging circuit when the battery is full...at least that is what they said about ipod and notebooks.

i support toms comments, yet i have heared that if u leave the phone
to charge for prolonged periods , over charging might bring down the ampier of the battery thus resulting to a short life for the battery.

yeah, its said that there is an automatic fuction where it shutsdown the recharging process when the battery is full, but man i lost my first Motorolla phone battery as a result of over charging.

cheers

Don't most people leave their phones charging when they are sleeping, and that is 10 hrs for me! Just a thought

People
I only have a P800 but i charge it all day at work or while i am sleeping. From my first Ericsson GA388 to my P800 i have always charged this way and never suffered from overcharging (this even applies to my shaver, tootbrush, etc.). I always try to fully discharge the battery then fully charge it otherwise it will suffer from the memory affect. once the battery is fully charged the charger will not shut down, it will supply enough current to keep the battery full and run your mobile until you disconnect.

Just a thought spare batteries are hardly £10 these days. I abuse my battery loads by over-charging etc and just buy a new one every 6 months!

I think when you put loads of programs the battery can go down quite quickly. Thats what i found using OGG player so I removed it.
