> New phone compatibility on AT&T ws?
Bookmark topic
Hi, I just had a quick question. I notice that there are a ton of new phones from SonyEricsson, but there are only a handful offered by my cellphone provider. Can I buy a new phone and have it work with my service provider? For example, I currently use a T68i. If I went out and bought a Z600 would I be able to get that to work on ATTWS even though they don't offer it?
Thanks in advance

AT&T are currently trying to use the 850 band more so, it would work.. but the signal would be poor. Anyway, if you have a T68i, apaerntly,

are going to send you a T230?

Hey, if you get
ANY phone, you have to make sure of two things. The first is that you must be able to unlock it (if it wasn't made for AT&T WS). For example, you could buy a SONY Ericsson, or any other phone from Cingular WS or T-Mobile, but could you use them? Not unless you unlocked them.
The second, is that you must make sure it is a GSM phone, not a CDMA phone. Only Verizon WS and SprintPCS use CDMA, so simply don't buy a phone from these two carriers, or don't buy any CDMA phone.
As for the band restriction, it seems as if the new band (850) is being brought into effect more in the eastern coast, so, if you live somewhere like Texas (as I do), you can make do with just a 1900, but the best phones to get (in the US) are dual-bands (850
and 1900).
