I know T610 is based on the G100 hardware (HW) platform from Ericsson Mobile Platforms (EMP), but I was curious about what platform K700 may be based on (I assume all new phones are based on some sort of EMP HW platform).
Now, EMP has 4 publicly available platforms called G100, G200 (this seem to be for clam shell phones), G300 (this I don't know) and E100 (EDGE/Quad-Band/External memory).
http://www.ericsson.com/mobileplatforms/products/edge/E100.shtml
Of those only E100 supports 176x220 65K displays.
What if K700 is based on E100 and what if some of the features supported by E100 not available on K700 today can be enabled later on by a SW upgrade.
For S700 I have concluded there is no HW platform from EMP publicly available that supports that big displays and hence requires more work for SE. That would explain why K700 is out Q2 and S700 Q4.
What do you think guys ? Are those crazy ideas or what ?

Of cource not ms duo, but the other features I think can optionally be enabled through an ASIC if all wires are there (they may be). Evenif my suggestion would be possible I think SE rather releases a new variant of K700 than upgrading its software.

Yes, but that has nothing to do with what HW platform they use.

yeah i know that gui hasn't anything to do with hw, i don't even know why did i say that maybe because i would love uiq3 or at least s60......
though i don't really kow the capabilites of the new gui and os so....
anyway i doubt that se will do this it's alot more likely they will do a t610-t630 scenario....

i REALLY doubt that, as it's not thought of by SE

Ericsson Mobile Platforms advertise that their products are scalable. So its highly possible that certain harware components can be easily removed to lower the costs and change the features in order to arrive at K700.
