Anyone here using MSN and IRC on your phone often? Does it work good?

Which is the best application for this, out there?

Which one are you using?

About how many Mb / Kb does it "take" to be idle online, chatting and recieving messages?

IRC and MSN both work perfectly, if you can find the right app and unrestricted gprs.

I keep gprs connected pretty much always with my own irc client Quirc and IM+ running (simple multinetwork messenger app similar to miranda). Traffic is usually less than 1 meg for a full 10-12 hours (at least I have yet to exceed 25 megs per month which is my flatrate limit). Thats with about 3-4 fairly busy efnet channels and 100+ contact lists (although I use ICQ rather than MSN).

For shorter sessions the traffic is usually negligible (less than 100k).
IM+ is a shareware app but Quirc is free (gpl) and available @ my-symbian, or here:
