> Copying contacts T68i to T610
Bookmark topic
I've just changed phone from T68i to T610.
When I tried to copy my contacts to SIM on the T68i, then from SIM to T610, I've ended up with multiple contacts where I previously had single contacts with more than one number. i.e. Where I previously had a contact called 'Dave' with entries for home, work and mobile numbers, I now have 'Dave', 'Dave' and 'Dave'
Is there any way of avoiding this, or at least copy and pasting the extra entries to end up with just one listing?

Sim memory can't handle contacts with 2 or more numbers. Try to send from phone to phonememory

assuming you only have one sim the best thing you can do is borrow another sim from someone (so you can start up both phones at the same time) and bluetooth the contacts from T68i to T610 thenb you will have no problem.
not sure you can do what you want via copying to the SIM itself

you can actually. I copied all contacts from T300 onto SIM and then from SIM onto Z600 phone memory and they came out perfect, 3 numbers per contact and no double entries.
Of course... your SIM would have to support this. How old is your SIM card?

When I had to do this I bluetoothed the numbers to my laptop first, then put the SIM in the T610 and let the laptop send them to the phone... They came out perfect, and I have a nice backup on the laptop now

That's really odd, actually. When your phone copies from your phone to your SIM card, it assigns a little ending to each one of them, for example, "Mary's" work number would end in "
/o", while her home number would end in "
/h", therefore, on the SIM, it would look like
"
Mary/h"
"
Mary/o"
Then, when your phone puts the number's back on the phone, it combines them properly. I don't believe it's dependent on the SIM as to whether it works, I believe that it depends on not editing the contact name on the SIM card.
