send SMS from a site on the internet is the easiest way. Some network providers do offer a anonymous SMS service to their customers, just by entering a short code in the beginning of the message. Check with your network provider, or just a website to send the message from.

With Vodafone you can hide your number when sending sms. Just start your sms with -A- and then (without a space after last - ) write your messsage. Reciever will see the "from" number as 31, nothing else. Remember to use capital A not a.
This is officially stated by Vodafone Sweden. Don't know about other countries. Guess you just have to try it out if on Vodafone outside Sweden.

Something similar here in Greece, BUT when they first send me anonymous sms then after one minute Vodafone send me another sms: "If you wish the next time someone is sending you an anonymous sms his number to be shown then send the following code --- to this number ----".
I dont remember the code and number. Its been a long time.
