I have been having difficulties syncing my P900 with Outlook and have been trawling through various forums for help and advice. There seems to be a miriad to different approaches to solving the problems I was having (out of memeory or system resources, or mmroute errors). As such i thought I would share my experiences with you since they may help other out. I tried closing applications down, disabiling firewalls etc, you name it, but nothing seemed to conculssively solve the problems. SE techs support didn't seem that helpful since it seemed to be a problem with my computer rather than the phone of sync software (Outlook would crach after error messages). Anyway, to cut a long story short, on phoning SE again for more help, they suggested that it might be the phone running short of memory ( I currently don't have a duo stick installed) that was creating the problems that appered to be PC based. So I thinned down my contacts (admittedly I was trying to load my enitre client list of several thousand names previously) and since then the syncing has been working without a hitch (within it's limitations). Saying that brings me onto an appeal. I, before swithing to a P900 was an Ipaq user and so am used to Microsoft Activesync. This app, although not perfect puts the SE sync software to shame in many crucial areas. The most important one is, as many posts on this forum will show, the complete lack of any mapping of Outlook catagories to the phones folders. Insane not to include it, and infuriating to hear SE tech help say that they have no plans to remedy this. The mind boggles. Secondly, activesync has a constant update setting, meaning that if the IPAQ is docked and changes are made on either device, changes are made automatically, there and then. OK, it's not then hardest thing to hit the sync button, but it's a nice touch and obvious in it's ommision on the P900. Lastly, Activesync places a shortcut to the IPAQ sync folder on your desktop, so it's easy to keep any files updated on both machines. The P900 is displayed as an icon on the desktop but you have to open it and then find the folder you want before you can copy files to or from. Again, fiddlesome but not the end of the world. However, what is a royal pain in the ar*e is that these folders aren't included in the sync process which can make keeping files synced over two computers (which I have to do) difficult. So, and here is the appeal, if there are any programers out there that might feel inclined to write a bit of 3rd party shareware to deal with these issues, I am sure you would do well out of it. It's a shame that SE are blantantly turning their nose up at user feedback. It deosn't reflect well on the company and it greatly, in my opinion, reduces the ability of the P900 to do what it says on the tin. That said, I still rate it!
I am running XP home, Windows Office XP SP3 on a 512Mb DDR, 2.4Ghz XP+ system with all the lastest firmware and SE software.

Hi!
wow, thats was a big load of letters there dude!
Well I agree. The SE syncsoftware sux!
Why cant they just let activesync do the work?
I have since I got my P900 looked for solutions that would enable:
* autosync on regular times
* Silent sync without the stupid "u are synking" and "sync complete"
* a no-need to allow sytnc to read from outlook.
I love the phone, hate the sync and miss MS ActiveSync.
It can always get better
regards, Magnus

ah but with SE's attitude, can it? Rise up your programers, rise up! There is NO 3rd party sync software that I can find! A gap in the market?
