Hi all.

Im in the process of developing a web site and would love to offer our theme song as a downloadable ringtone.

However, I have no idea of the steps involved. I would really appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.

I have the song currently as a small MP3 loop.

Thanks very much in advance.

Um, you can't convert MP3's to midi's (to use as a ringtone). However, you should write it out in a music program that can save as a midi file.

Actually, there is software that DOES allow you to convert an mp3 into a MIDI although I have never used one and have no idea how they work - but they DO exist!

If your song is a mp3 loop, that is perfect for newer, higher-end phones. But if you want to allow the larger population to use them, convert it into MIDI. That is your best bet.

Try searching and you will see that many members have explained why it can't be converted, yes it can but test it and you will see ...

It is not possible to convert an mp3 or wave to midi - no matter how many software state they can - PERIOD

Because of the difference in nature of wave/mp3 and midi - it will allways be crap.

You will need to either write the notes into a midisoftware - or play it using a keyboard into a midisequenser.

they are midi files alright. it's TECHNICALLY possible to convert.... however nobody has been able to my knowledge to produce decent qualiy midis by converting them from a completely different audio file.

the only way to create a DECENT midi would be to compose it from scratch (some talent required )

exactly

Technically they do produce midis naturally - but the problem is you wont be able to reckognise the resulting song when a software tries to convert from a wavelength type of file

Beleive me there are no shortcuts in this area - midis needs to be produced the same way they have allways been.
