Headset manufacturer Jabra has introduced a new Bluetooth speakerphone, the SP100, allowing wireless handsfree conversations from Q2 2004.
Jabra, a provider of hands-free communication products, introduces the SP100, its first entry into the mobile speakerphone category. The cordless, portable speakerphone works with the latest Bluetooth phones and allows hands-free conversations in the car, office or home. The SP100 will be available in North America in Q2, 2004.

The new speakerphone comes with two car mounting accessories, a visor clip and a suction mount. The microphone features a pivoting arm which can be positioned for optimum voice pick-up. The volume can also be adjusted so that even large groups in noisy surroundings can hear phone conversations clearly.
In addition, the Jabra SP100 is equipped with a mute button, which is particularly useful for telephone conferencing. A headset port is available when more privacy is required. Its multi-function call button supports voice-activated dialing and answer/end commands.
The lightweight speakerphone (170 grams) is primarily designed for use in the vehicle and fits with today's car interiors in multiple locations. The speakerphone requires no installation and can be moved easily from one location to another. The contoured design of the Jabra SP100 allows users to place the speakerphone on a desktop for use in the office or at home.
The Jabra SP100 is fully compliant with Bluetooth 1.1 or higher devices that support the headset or hands-free profile. The speakerphone has a range of up to 30 feet to a mobile phone and utilizes long-lasting, rechargeable AA batteries. It provides up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 20 days of standby time. An AC adapter and vehicle power charger are also included.

same reason you would need a speakerphone for a homephone....
cooking, conference calling, driving, asking stupid questions without using your hands.
