Today introduced the newest and most advanced handset in its growing portfolio of CDMA2000 1X products. Based on Nokia's own CDMA2000 1X chipset, the Nokia 6255 phone integrates an impressive list of features into its compact 4.2-ounce, fold-style design. Dual color screens, MMC memory card support, a VGA camera with flash and digital zoom, video player, streaming media capability, an MP3/AAC player and FM radio are among the features that make the Nokia 6255 phone a powerful platform for both business and entertainment applications. The tri-mode (CDMA 800/1900/AMPS) Nokia 6255 phone is expected to be available during the fourth quarter of 2004.

The wide array of functions included on the Nokia 6255 phone take full advantage of the high-speed data capabilities of CDMA2000 1X networks. Along with crisp VGA-quality images, the built-in camera on the Nokia 6255 phone can capture video clips complete with audio, which can then be sent directly from the handset. Hundreds of these images and videos can then be saved to the phone or an optional MMC memory card, expandable to 64MB. The large 128x160 pixel, 65,000-color main screen creates the perfect vantage point for viewing full-motion streaming audio and video content, which is delivered in real-time to the Nokia 6255 phone.

With the Nokia 6255 phone, we are offering the most desired features like Bluetooth technology, a camera with flash and expandable memory, in an attractive, compact form factor," said Soren Petersen, senior vice president and general manager of Nokia's CDMA business unit. "Perhaps most importantly, the Nokia 6255 phone is based on Nokia's acclaimed user interface design, so not only are the features powerful, they are also easy to use."

Integrated Bluetooth technology enables wireless connectivity for both audio and data applications. By combining the Nokia 6255 phone with a Bluetooth enabled PC, users can easily synchronize contact, to-do list and calendar information between desktop PIM software and the handset. Additionally, the same data link may be used to connect a PC to the Internet using the Nokia 6255 phone's high-speed data capability. A selection of optional Nokia enhancements use Bluetooth technology to add even more functionality to the Nokia 6255 phone. Some of these Bluetooth-technology enabled enhancements include wireless headsets for handsfree, tangle-free use; Wireless Car Kits for convenient in-vehicle operation; and the new Nokia Image Album, which stores images and videos from the Nokia 6255 phone and allows for easy viewing on a standard television.

For fun and personalization, the Nokia 6255 phone can quickly and easily download the newest applications directly to the handset. Applications ranging from productivity to games to photo editing software are only a few key presses away. The built-in MP3/AAC player, FM radio and available stereo headset allow owners to take their favorite music with them, without having to carry multiple devices.

@axxxr - Nice one - again ! A small, flip-type colored Nokia fone, will that outbest the SE Z600 ? Though the bad/sad part of it is that it will not be introduced here in Manila. Nokia very rarely put CDMA fones in our market, I only see one being sold in Korea.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this Nokia's first flip phone? (And I don't mean flip like those Communicators, I mean the true flip style phone.

@rdny... - I used to see one at Nokia.com. I think it was introduced way back in 2000 or 2001. It is also a CDMA one, flip type but not a colored fone . . .
