I am thinking about to buy a p900 of a guy here in esato via paypal! He lives in boston and i in iceland! So i neet to get it sent! But i wanna be sure that the phone is not stolen! Because the police can lock stolen phones! And hf i buy him and he is locked! How can i unlock the phone then? (The guy told that the phone was brandnew)
Can i check any IMEI number? Is there any list over stolen imei number from the police so i can check and be sure?
Please tell me if u know any info for me how i can be sure!

@gardar - Can't you buy a P9 near your place, so that you can get hold of the owner's id (xerox will do), say, driver's license etc, in case of a problem with the unit? That is one of the disadvantages of buying online, specially from far away places - prices also to consider. But if you are really eager to buy it, I guess what you'll look for now is a shop who can change a P9's IMEI #. Once it's changed, even the Telecom Company can't block it anymore. That's the trend here in Manila. At present, they can change the IMEI of an SE T610 fone for only US$12.00 (metropolis). But not with that of a P8 and a P9, still very hi-tech perhaps . . .

I do agree with @jojo. Now a days to buy a fone, i mean a second hand shop or from sy else, is a question of trust. Check other possibilites too, p9 is not a cheap fone.

The phone costs 385us$$
The lowest price i found it unlocked in a shop costs 790us$$ on the internet i think the adress of the shop is www.no-air-line.com -found a link on gsmarena.com - but let me know if you know a p9 on a better price than 790$$ unlocked in some shop!
I need a p900.....

Regarding that P900
Of course, there is a saying. If the price is too good to be true, it probably isnt. Paypal isnt a 100% safe either, it is easy to forge personal information and obtain an account. I urge you to be careful. One thing is for sure, if the person is new here to Esato, it might as well be a scam, cuz we see it here all the time. And Changing IMEI's is illegal, you should know that! If you're caught it could lead to jail time or a hefty fine (sometimes both), even in Iceland.
Good Luck!

ANother reason to buy locally is a little test I've don on every phone I've ever bought. Use *#06# to compare the IMEI of the phone to the number on the label in the battery compartment, and if it's boxed, the number on the box, just to make sure no one's tampered with it.
