Hi all
Its my first ever post here!
I was wondering if anyone could explain this.
Myself and my friend Gaz have t610 phones. Mines quite an old one, it was made on week 24 2003, wheras his is a lot newer, week 51 2003.
Anyways, we are both running the same version firmware, r4c003 (?which is the latest?)
Gaz's phone seems to run a hell of a lot faster than mine when displaying animated jpg's and gif's.
On his phone they run so fast its like watching a film. On mine they chug along quite slowly.
His java is bloody quick as well! Q*Bert is impossible!
I've not installed jbenchmark on his yet. Mine gets a score of 620.
So techy people, why is his phone faster?????
Faster processor or memory?
His screen is loads better too, much brighter and clearer!
Is it worth 'accidentally' damaging my phone and getting a newer one on orange care?

Have you filled up ur fone wid lotsa stuff? If u have much less free mem then him it mite b y his is faster. and the screen thing, well... have you checked your contrast in the settings???? Just turn it up and u can make it as brite as you want.

If i was you i would backup everything on the phone and do a master reset and see if the speed change.

What software should I use to backup my phones memory? There was a cool program on the christersson site for t68, is there one for t610?
Oh and i'll write down his phone's SW information next time i see him.

Newer firmware apparently sped up animated GIFs and menus somewhat.
Also as the manufacture of the T610 is outsourced, different hardware (screens, LEDs) is likely to occur in newer phones. I know my brother's T610 screen looks dim and yellow in comparison to mine. But mine's got dodgy purple keypad lights!
Also, be careful about Orange Care. Should you damage or lose your phone, Orange might send you a reconditioned (scratched, beaten and abused most likely!) handset.

actually i have noticed that my friends t610 is much different that my other friends old t610. the key colours have a white light instead of blue and the colouring of the fascias and the speed are slightly different. Strange. I have only owned a t610 for a couple of days so sorry i aint an expert!!
(i am on the t3**, t600/100/200, and pxoo series though
)
