I am writing this, because I was thinking about something last night. When I first got my T616, I thought it was only a dual-band, and could only function in the US.

However, I saw Cingular advertising it as a "World Phone", and didn't understand this. Upon further investigation, I discovered that the phone functioned on the 1800 frequency (for outside the US), but I also discovered that this band was supposedly not used that much.

Well, I'd like to hear from everyone, please, where you are located, and what bands you use! This way, when I travel, I'll know what phone I need (dual-band, tri-band or quad-band).

To start, in Texas, we use the 850 band.

I live in Belgium, at my home ( brusssels ) I use the dual band : 1800 and at my school I only have the 900 band

nope, GB uses 900 and 1800 just like the rest of the world expect for the Americas.

North America, GSM 850/1900, CDMA 900/1800 + AMPS + 3G CDMA2000 I think

South America, GSM 850/1900 + probably some CDMA and analogue standard + 3G CDMA2000 I think

Europe, GSM 900/1800, some old analogue standards such as NMT (Nordic Mobile Telephony) at 450 MHz and possibly some CDMA standards in some countries + 3G UMTS 450 MHz

Asia, GSM 900/1800 and maybe some other networks + 3G UMTS 450 MHz (not sure about the freq)

Australia, GSM 900/1800, CDMA (don't know what freq) + 3G UMTS 450 MHz (not sure about the freq)

Africa, GSM 900/1800 and possibly some CDMA and analogue networks + 3G UMTS I think

Japan, hmm, different standard from everyone else never remember the name of it. + some 3G standard, don't know which one?
