I've just bought a SonyEricsson P900 on new Orange contract from an
independent retailer, to replace my Samsung A300 on Vodafone.

Can I transfer my text messages from the A300 to the P900? I want to save the messages which are on my old phone.

Perhaps if I took this into somewhere like the Carphone Warehouse?

Thank-you.

The texts should be stored on your sim (if not your a300 should have a copy to sim fuction) then you should be abole to copy them from your sim in the p900 (But it doesnt) so your left with trying to move them be sending them via IR, txting them to yourself (posibly someone else and then get them to forward them back to you?) or copy them manually prehaps? Everythings so easy with mobiles...

I remember when I had about 380 sms on my P800 and wanted to transfer to my P900. At the end I send them via my computer.

that seems to be the way to go: store them on your computer and then transfer to P900

I had a A300 long time back and it is not possible to connect it to a computer so that option is not possible. I think there is an option to save the messages on the SIM I am not sure though. So as Imanuk said above the best option would be to send it by IR.

Let's see...

I don't see anything on the A300 which would let me move messages between the SIM and the phone.

Also, there doesn't seem to be an option to beam messages via IR. Something else I tried via IR, though (Orange ContactWiz), saw the two devices fail to communicate properly via IR.

I've no idea how I could connect the A300 to my computer - one of you says it's impossible. Indeed, I don't have any cables for this.

I am able to forward each of my messages on the A300 to my new phone number via SMS - but this, of course, tags them all as having come from me rather than the original sender.

My new P900 is locked to Orange, by the way. I can put the new Orange SIM in the A300 but not the Vodafone SIM in the P900.

Thanks.

This is why I hate the so called "Orange P900" or "Vodafone P900" etc. They mess up with the device and then you have plenty of problems.

The Samsung A300 was an upgrade and not pre-configured for any network. The P900 is, of course, heavily Oranged-tailored.
