Very often, my P800 shifts from my chosen ring tone to its default one. I use the melody OLDFASHIONED because that is the loudest availble in this phone. When it automatically reverts to its default melody, I have many missed calls because the default melody is very feeble and hardly audible. This causes great frustration. Owners' manual gives no clue as to how to stop this automatic reverting to the default tone. Please help me in finding the way to make my phone to continue using my chosen ringtone.
Also , can I get louder ringtones for this phone?.

Is your ringtone stored on your memory stick?

Ok, this is just an idea, i haven't tried it myself!
The default ringtone is called Semring.mid. This file is stored in your c:\system\data\defaultSounds.
Whenever i have a person in my contacts refered to a special ringtone, but have deleted, or moved it afterwards, this is the tune that plays. If you would replace this file (i would save it first though!) with the file YOU want as a ringtone. Perhaps in order to make it work flawless, you should Rename YOUR ringtone to SEMRING.MID aswell. Store it in this directory.
I'm guessing this way, you can 'mislead' you're phone...

Good luck!

Just a thought, are u using a filemanager (Sman etc). If your filemanager is set to close or end tasks on flip close or after a certain time then that could be your problem. Apparently it takes at least one call/msg/mms to store the ring into phone unless the control panel is killed before this happens. Hope that helps

Thanks for showing some light. No, I am not using film manager. The automatic shift in the ring tone takes place mainly when I turn off the silent mode and get back to ringing mode. If I do not use the silent mode during the day, the ring tone mostly remains unchanged. Only getting back to ringing mode from the silent mode causes the problem. Can this provide a helpful clue?
