This is probably a really silly question, but does anyone know if its possible to "unlock" the SE T610 so that it can use the 3 sim card? I was told that only 3G phones by 3 can be used with their sim. I'm really annoyed with T-Mobile and definately going to change cuz their scamming my free minutes, but I've only recently bought the T610 and love it to bits so don't want to give it up if possible!! Does anyone know if its possible or an I only dreaming??

Ok, so that bubbles burst. But theres just one more. Will SE be releasing any phones which can be used with the UK 3 phone company? Is it just a phone which has video calling capabilities thats needed? (provided its not locked) I mean SE is releasing the S700i soon which has video calling, so should that be possible to use the 3 sim card instead?
(hopefully the bubble this time won't burst!)

One of my mates put a '3' sim in2 his unlocked nokia (previously on O2) and worked fine. However i didnt actually see him do it, or use his phone as a matter of fact..but he is clued up in matters relatin to mobiles. Obviously only voice calls could b made. Any1 out there who could confirm this? Or was my mate talkin s h i t? This message was posted from a T610

@brownface: that happens cuz the 3uk or any other 3g network still uses the gsm networks(too) to make voice calls as the 3g network is too small.
Ok, so back to the basics: 3G networks are totally diff'rent from regular gsm networks but because they just developed UMTS, there's a certain inter-operability between the 3g network and a gsm network. And to answer to the originial poster:no, u can't "unlock" it a T610, as the T610 is designed to work with GSM networks while 3 UK uses a UMTS network. The phone for UMTS 3UK is the z1010 from

It might work since 3 UK sim's work in some phones and if you look in prefered networks there's "3 - UK" This message was posted from a T610

they work for a little while, then 3 update their sims (this can be done whenever the sim is in a phone and turned on) and block out phones that are not 3 phones. a friend of mine used his 3 sim in his ngage for about a week then it just stopped working. t610 has be out for ages so im pretty sure they blocked that one out already

Basically you need a specific fw and it may mash up your settings

oh and to those that dont get it he is after a 2g roaming lock as the tariffs on 3 are so nice but the phones suck!
