The GDFS for the Z600, T610, T616, T630, and (probably) the T637 are the same!!! What does it mean? It's weird, but read on.

I was considering mentioning this in this post, but I figured I wouldn't, cause this is a little broader than just this.

This topic really has no value, it's just to inform you of something. Well, hence the title of this thread, this is true. Last night, I went into the service menu, and actually looked at every single Text Label on the phone. The text labels menu contains every single label that you see on the phone, for example, when you plug your phone in, to charge, you see the words "Optimized Charging" appear. This is a text label.

Well, as I said, I went through every single one on the phone (yes, it's a big list, took me about 5 hours) and made sure that I knew where each one went.

Now, you say I am crazy; that the GDFS is not the same? Well, you look. I found two text labels about a "Clamshell" (I don't remember the exact label, and am not going through that awful list again!!!, but I'm not gonna post inaccurate info, either). It was something about the "Clamshell" being open. This refers to the Z600(!!!), as I don't think the T610, T616, T630, or the T637 are gonna fold into a clamshell very nicely.

I also found several labels about an apparent AIM application which never made it onto the T61x series, which from a little investigation, can only refer to the T630/T637, by the proof of the screenshot that AshUK85 (third post) posted.

By the way, in case you're wondering, yes, I do in fact have the T610 GDFS on my T616, but they are exactly identical , because I checked my wife's phone, and the lists are the same.

I think this is odd. I flashed this GDFS onto my phone a while ago. This can only mean that SE had the AIM idea in their heads when they made the T610!!! Why didn't they include that onto the T610 and T616 instead of waiting for the T630/T637?!?!?!? What else are they hiding from us? What else will we slip up on?

By the way, have any of you guys ever gone through the list yourselves? It's really interesting and I've taken on a personal challenge to see if I can view all of the text labels that I can (not through the menu, but through the natural way). I have been inspired to search out ways for my phone to connect to other devices (or to not connect, so I can see the error labels!!!)! Check it out yourself, and report back!!!

Ethan

Yes, but still, why did the T610 have the AIM label on it? That's kind of like forseeing the future, eh?

Yeah, know what you mean mate, but they had probably already designed AIM before the t610 but didn't find the need to add it, but then decided that they would use it for the t630.

It is like on the t68i where it had the labels for the hidden games on the t68, even though you couldn't access them on the t68i, it saves them time to just add then leave the labels, rather than re-writing the list for every phone, as this would take a lot of man hours, but also a lot more testing on each phone to make sure that they have added all the labels
