SE absolutely sucks when built-in cameras are concerned - that is compared to nokia cameraphones (7650, 3650, 3660, 6600)
And don't go telling people that because it's a phone's camera, it need not be that good - if nokias can do it so should SE. I mean for a phone as big as the P900/P800 and considering Sony is known for their Cybershot line of digicams, they should have installed a good quality camera into it.
Anyway, P900/P800 produces good quality images under bright sunlight. Other than that, it really sucks.

I had a Nokia 7650, and then a 3650 before I got my P900.
The 7650 camera was appalling, it had that terrible 'Barrell distortion' and only the centre of the photo was in focus. The 3650 got rid of the distortion, but seemed to take quite dim photos, some with a slight blue tint.
The P900 might be a bit 'liney' sometimes, but you can manually adjust the brightness and contrast and even deal with flourescent lighting. Plus, it doesn't have what seems like a two year delay between pressing the capture button, and the photo actually being taken (see 7650, 3650, and 6600. All phones that I've found to have the delay).
Please note, I'm not just Nokia-bashing either. The P900 is far superior to my Motorola V600 as well.

makes phones primarily with lotsa functions... camera isn't the top priority.
I too did not find Nokia cams to be distinctively better... in fact they are kak as well
Now samsung and panasonic..... they know how to do it

You are so right the cameras on p900 and SE other phones are crap, but as someone has already said, SE phones have much better other features than the camera. And the phones you mentioned with good cameras have crap other features......
Much like all of us you too are on the quest of the perfect phone.......
I wonder what the upgrade to P900 will look like, or possibly the Nokia 9500.......
