Hi,
I got a new T610 from T-Mobile. I went through forum and found a way to look into SW Information. I want to know what mine T610 firmware is and is it new? I called sony they said it takes $35 and have to send this phone to them and it may or may not same after I get it back. So here the the number from the phone info:
first two lines are:
R1S001 prgCXC12-5600_US_3
R1S001 prgCXC12-.......
then in the end it has another line..
ITP Version
R1B007_prgCXC......
So what is the firmware version, Is it new? I got this phone last week, so it is under warranty, Why did agent at Sony asked for $35 for upgrade?
Also I want to use this phone in Asia, while I travel, Can I request my phone company, If they can open the GSM SIM lock, I am not sure if they have service in Asia.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

You firmware version is R1S001, quite old one. Sometimes it does cost for a upgrade even under warranty, unless you have problems with your phone.
Check if T-Mobile have any roaming deals with any Asian providers, which they probably have, then you can use your phone and your T-Mobile sim card when going there

The latest firmware is R4C003 for the T610.
http://www.globalmob.com offers firmware upgrades for $25.00 USA/CA
and you can check what the latest firmware revision is.

my T610 was R1S001 (aka T-mobile customized). No gprs indicator, t-zones everywhere, and crappy Java.
I just flashed R4C yesterday myself, (the reason I go for R4C because it has many language support, not in R6B yet). Now I have the gprs indicator, and I can set my homepage, and can play good java games. It's pretty easy to flash. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, just buy a dongle and do it so you don't need to wait while your phone shipped away.

Hi, I have a T610 which was originally on Vodafone (and still has it's crappy personalisation on!) with the software version R3c002 - is this a recent version? From what I've gathered so far it's a fairly recent version, does it measure up well with the latest software versions?
