I'm sure this has been asked to death but does anyone know the definitive answer about when o2 WAP GPRS on PAYG becomes chargeable? Some people are saying 1st April, some 1st May. It's confusing! Does anyone know the answer for sure?

Thanks
Jonathan.

Try calling o2 for a definitive answer. This message was posted from a P900

They are supposed to be scrapping the GPRS and if you want it you have to pay subscription charges, as people are abusing the free GPRS. They are claiming that nobody stuck with the 'Fair Use Policy' and every user has used up over £500 on GPRS. This message was posted from a T610

Got my bill yesterday and there's a leaflet with it which says:

From the 1st of May access to WAP and O2 Active will be charged at £2.35 per MB. Depending on the amount of information contained in a page, 1MB allows you to view around 150-200 pages
To get you started you'll get an allowance of 20 per month.

You can also by an O2 Active Bolt On which is 5MB for £4 per month.

I wonder if that applies to payg customers as well. Hope not! I've been enjoying my fair use of the service for a year or more! If i have to start saying for it i will be detestated! Its a great tool - for free, not for a price though. This message was posted from a T68i

If you have the pay and go online tariff(used to be genie sim) witht eh 300 txtx and wap mins free then you get 300 free gprs pages but it is most probably 1mb because i asked and they said that you get 1mb of gprs free per month with that tariff which is equivelant to 300 pages.

Yep call 2202 then press 1 then 1 again and it tells you about the free allowances on the online tarrifs and after using 1mb, or 300 pages its then £2.35 per mb ( 150-200)(someone said it before).

I think I'm one of the heavier users! I use it with my laptop for web access when I'm away from home etc. Probably do about 35-50Mb per week if I stay connected all day.

When I used to have an o2 contract, I did about 20Mb per week on mobile web and dreaded getting my bill, sometimes it got as high as £100 per month!

Nice to know that we've got until the 1st May at least though. It's because of offers like this that I stay with o2.
