Sony Ericsson moves to Windows .NET and ports Interface to .NET
Bye Bye Symbian...
Guess they dont want to be Controlled by the compition and they cant move to PALM as SONY already uses PALM OS and is thinking of bringing thier own "Clie" phone
Which also means FASTER PROCESSOR MORE MEMORY...wonder how long it will take to Impliment a standard UI on this platform...

Doubt very much! Sony didn't exactly make much impact in the mobile phones and had little market share and was loosing money like Ericsson, that was why they merged the operations together and outsourced production and manufacturing to other computers. Plus Ericsson and Sony Ericsson have about 20% shares and can also buy more of the shares sold by Psion to Nokia (which is more likely to happen). This investment makes it very unlikely that they will switch to windows ce with all the new research costs involved, unlike Motorola who off loaded their investment and developing across all platforms. The main reason SE invested in Symbian is to prevent Microsoft to become dominant and dictate specs, stifling innovation. Notice all Pocket PCs have very similar specs and until recently had the same hardware. As for jumping to Palm there is a possibility that Sony could include a Clie with telecoms functionality but it is probably to do with VOIP via WIFI if any. Palm do have a standard UI, Sony just use their own front end. You can use the standard one if you don't like Sony's. Until battery technology catches up having faster processors is not likely. Pocket PCs are notorious for their drain! Palms are much better. But still the battery life operating times are no where near say that of a P900 using in similar way.
Time to wake up from your nightmare SE are not going to jump into bed with the enemy! You might want to read the other threads!

if sony own such a large percentage of the shares in symbian and were planning to use windows then couldnt they sell the shares and thus initiate a fall in the share prices wiping a large amount off nokias investment. (i know this means they loose any influence on symbian development and dont benefit at all if nokia is successful). I dont know much about shares so i might be talking crap.

Why does everyone get so over-protective of "their" phone OS/manufacturer/format?
A simliar joke on MoDaCo had people cussing the operator cos he'd "sold out to the devil" and threatening to leave the forum in protest.
It's a great phone, but it's still only a phone FFS

I also have a MDAII it outlasts/draws equal with myP900 under same usage pattern !!! (I underclock it from 400Mz to 200 for all except for Games !! lol)
I also have a Treo600 which outlast both...
