> Flip off AGAIN!
Bookmark topic
After three months decided to go flip-off for an experiment - have done lots of searching but can't find the answer to the following two problems I've found:-
1) "Power" save no longer works if virtual flip is minimised? Is this right? I just end up with my last screen permanently on display?? (could use Screensaver but I'd rather have a clock or blank). Am I missing something?
2) Voice dial? With flip on I just hold down [OK] or press the button on my Jabra BT200. With flip off - WHAT do I do to activate voice dial??
Any ideas? (Yes - I have searched)
Thanks in advance.

This probably isn't much help but while your doing the right thing and not using the flip (my pet hate), go the whole hog and ditch the virtual flip too! Try it go on I dare you. (Problem 1 fixed!)
Do you have the latest firmware? The latest paid particular attention to the HBH-200, might help with the other BT headsets. Worth ruleing out anyhows.
Thats my best. Hope it works out.

Done! And SOLVED !!! I enabled the virtual flip in the first instance cos I thought I 'had to'. This is even though I hardly ever actually use the numbers since I don't know anybodys phone number and just use my contacts. With virtual flip off the clock (or blank) now pops into life! Cheers!

Yup - just downloaded today - the voice dial is fine with my Jabra, its when I want to voice dial WITHOUT my headset that is the problem - what do I do??? (Especially now I have no virtual flip where I could hold down [OK] !).
My temporary workaround is to redefine the keys in HandyDay so the camera button switches views, I now have to hit camera twice to switch to the desk pane, click the jog dial on the Phone app (the first icon in my default desk pane view) , and then hold down the jog dial to activate voice dialling. Reasonably straightforward I suppose....
Flip off. Virtual Flip Off...proper bo!

I think I'm permanently converted to be honest - it makes the Organiser functions much more useful - I look at my phone and I can see what I'm supposed to be doing rather than having to flip a flip or use the useless flip closed calendar/task views.
How do you switch speaker phone on/off if you are flip off no virtual flip though?

I use my flip, but I'm guessing that you could press the wheel to use voice dial....

Yup, but only if the [Phone] app is active.
I use HandyDay which I have on the 'Day' view by default - I just need to hit the Camera button a couple of times to go to my 'Desk' view, then hit the jog dial which opens the [Phone] app (its the first item on my 'Desk' view), and then press and hold the dial to get voice dialling.
Sounds more complex than it is, but its still significantly quicker than opening contact, hitting an initial letter, opening a contact and dialling from there - I guess I was hoping there is some more application insensitive way of activating voice dial, but I don't think there is.
Flip off - virtual off - big clock - it's almost like having a new phone!
The one thing that smacks me about flip off is that the phone isn't as 'embarassing' to use! With flip on, if I wanted to use the organiser I'd open the flip, whip out the stylus and click away and people would stare and crowd around...now, since I'm not obviously 'using a phone', people just think its 'another PDA' and I can click and write with much less attention (means I can send personal SMSs during work meetings without getting frowned at too

)

What a dumb @$$ I am!
To answer my own question, you click the little musical note icon at the bottom of the screen and tick the box.
