ive recently bought a 200m msi bluetooth adapter from ebay, but wen i got it only siad 100m on the box but thats not the problem! the problem is how far will my p800 be able to pick it up from? as my mate claims his 100m bluetooth dongle can pick his fone up anywhere in the house and mine only seems to work in the same room, no further! it also says ont he box range 10m-100m do u know if there is anyway in teh sittings to change how far it can transmit or anything? i know the p800 only has a 10m range but surely if the dongle is transmitting up to 100m it will pick it up?

i guess the dongle will pick up your p800 but not the other way if you are out of the 10m range

Bluetooth requires a 'handshake' between both devices, so the dongle and P800 can only 'talk' within 10 meters of each other. PC will not detect P800 out of ten meter range and vice-versa.

That's strange, why would you need a 100m dongle then since most of the phones only have 10m. Also why does his mate claim that it works thru his whole house

so there is no chance of it finding my fone out of the 10m range?

if no walls or obsatcles were there you would get about 30m from a p800 and a 100m dongle but obstacles make all the diffrence.
check out this website it has info about half way down on ranges and obstacles

You can get 100m dongles because they can be used for communicating with loads of different things, not just phones. You can set up a wireless home PC network using BT, for example.

Walls do get in the way, and exactly how bad an effect they have on the BT signal depends largely on what they're made of!

It's unlikely that your P800 and Comp will ever talk to each other out of the 10m range, because even though the PC can reach the P800, the P800 can't reach the PC
