Guys,

I got my T630 a few weeks ago. I am currently living in the United States. I chose the black model because of its limited availability; however, I have been questioning my decision ever since. I called SE in the US and they weren't very helpfull. I was told it would take over 1 month to update my firmware and the person wasn't even sure if I was going to get the latest firmware or if the T-Mobile setting would be deleted. Cost wasn't very friendly either.

Here's my question: Is there anyway I can update the firmware on my phone to get rid of the T-Mobile customizations in the United States? If not, I will be in Madrid during the summer, and in London the following semester. Anybody knows where I can take or send my phone in any of those locations? Please let me know, any sort of help/advice will be greatly appreciated!

Regards to all,

Tomaso

for sure u can update ur firmware, and that is done by flashing the phone at a local service center, and that would get rid of all T-Mobile stuff in the phone and reset it to original sonyericsson menu style. Try any third party cellular shop in the US, im sure they are available, as they are available here in TORONTO.

Ok guys,

Is anybody aware of a online retailer that will perform the flashing for me? Has anybody successfully dealt with such retailers in the past?

I was checking some of the software available and they are very expensive. Most of them cost more than 280 dollars. Since I will only be performing the update on my phone I see no reason to purchase such software.

Thanks again!

Thanks rdnymllnsktr!

He was able to help me with my problem. I flashed my phone with the latest firmware and removed all the T-crap. The only feature that I don't have is My Friends. I coudn't find the original T630 file, so I used the Z600.

It didn't take long at all. About 30 minutes total. From reading the text at http://www.cellular-support.com/ downloading the necessary files and uploading them into the phone. I purchased the terminator dongle at eBay with the help of Ethan. Like I said before, the only feature that I coudn't keep was My Friends.
