First up - I have a Macintosh, not a PC, so that's gonna limit responses a bit! The Address Book built into Macs running OSX.3 is supposed to be able to send SMS messages to a cell phone selected from the Address Book via a paired Bluetooth cell phone. It works with my friend's PowerBook G4 and his Siemens phone, but it doesn't seem to work with my Sony Ericsson T630, even though Bluetooth Sync-ing of my phone with Address Book and iCal works perfectly.

Any thoughts out there?

It works fine for me with a T610. I was using just a few minutes ago.

Obviously the phone is paired if you can sync ok. Have you remembered to press the little bluetooth button in Address Book (top-left of window?).

Then, CTRL (or right) click on the persons mobile number and choose "SMS Message: from the pop-up menu.

Do SMS's appear on your Macs screen when you recieve them on the phone? They should if Address Book and the phone are talking correctly - and you've pressed the BT button in AB.

Do you have Salling Clicker running? If so, read the help files for that about it working with Address Book.

Can't think of anything else...

Thanks - I do have everything set up correctly, have pressed the BT button on the Address Book pane and it's turned blue. I can browse the phone, download files and sync it fine, but it seems to ignore Address Book. I don't get any message on my mac screen when my phone's received a text message. I don't have Salling Clicker running - should I?

You don't need Salling Clicker running, but if you had there's something I remember reading about it using some Bluetooth Serial Ports that Address Book uses. You have to add an extra Serial Port using the Bluetooth Serial Utility.

Above is the setup from my Bluetooth Serial Utility, if yours is different, maybe thats why it doesn't work.

Have you tried completely deleting all pairing information from the phone and Mac and then re-pairing again? That often helps.

Sorry I can't be of anymore help.

The amazingly simple answer to the problem can be found at

This is even simpler:

Go to Bluetooth Preferences > Delete all your phones
Go to Bluetooth Setup Assistant > follow instructions

Use t630 with address book.

I am having the same problem i think. using latest osx (10.3.4).

Problem: All bluetooth stuff works fine. Can send text messages and dial phone from address book, but do not get any notifications from the phone when i get a text or phone call.

I have tried un-pairing everything etc, but always the same problem. It did work once before I installed BluePhone Menu, and Sailing clicker, but have since un-install them and it does not work.

One thing that it could be, is that pic of bluetooth serial conections that is on this page, well I only have the in direction one. I have tried manually adding the secound but it does not help.

Would be graitfull for any help. Thanx,

David.
