Actually the phones are designed etc by Sony and Ericsson but they out source production. Neither company actually put's the phones components together. This goes back to the Ercisson days when they were broke and were looking to cut costs.

yes it does.
'outsourcing' also means having your chargers manufactured by some dodgy company named delta in thailand. it's a calculated risk of costs versus quality control

My chargers are made in sweden or finland. @vlammetje is right at the point, that the place of manufacture of chargers does effect the fone and battery

Well, it's a known fact that cheap manufacturing in Asia and Eastern Europe is the main reason to blame for the lack of quality in the newer products, and i am not talking about phones only.
I am always trying to get products made someplace else but it's harder and harder as i wouldn't get these kind of low prices if they were made in Germany or Italy, for example.
