I would download the latest PC Suite software, uninstall the current one and install the new one and try again.

have you made sure the p900 cable connection status is on pc connect? the update may have changed it to modem.

I had problems restoring my phone after upgrade. but not with the connection.
if you know of any one with a p900 try that to see if its your phone or PC.
if its the PC try removing the ticks from the connection box (right click on phone icon in bar. remove any other usb devices, reboot pc. tick the usb connection box in the se software.
see if this now recognises the handset, if not reboot pc again.
If all fails install the software on another PC and export the backup and then reimport it to the new PC. The old version of backup restore does work with the new firmware.
hope one of those helps.

I am going to try via bluetooth now, It is so bloody annoying I dont mind loosing installed programs cos i can eaisly reinstall them from my pc but my phone book is annoying me. I have jobs on tonight and cant phone the customers due to the fact there numbers are now stuck in limbo in the restore file
will keep you all updated

Try using another sync station, pc or better yet get u a DCU-11 cable. I have run into issues where my phone could no longer be detected on certain computers. I have resolved these issues by either plugging the phone into a new pc or simply plugging a different sync station into the pcs that gave me issues. I think it's a driver failure somewhere. So with that said since your backup is on your personal pc I would suggest grabbing another station if you have one or can borrow one. Your pc will detect it as a new device and will treat it as such. So any issues that you had between the other sync station and your phone should be resolved with this alternate method.

I giving it one more go on my PC have just made sure that all the files are removed.
