All UK users,

I don't know whats really going on here but I am getting a bit pissed off really. Whether or not "the update" comes out this week, next week or last week, I think SE have been treating their customers like idiots.

Therefore I decided to send a message to BBC Watchdog. It may not do anything to speed up the arrival of the upgrade but it will send a message to SE that they can't treat their customers like shit. Lets hope Nicky "Lots to get through" Campbell will sort them out.

So please go to this site and write down your thoughts on SE:

Much as I believe in the spirit of consumer action, I am not sure what to complain about. The phone works, there have been regular updates since it's release and that's about it.

The worst I could come up with is: "They promised a bunch of features due in this next software release and it's a week late!" (they even told everyone it would be a week late in the FAQ)

Remember, most of the confusion here and on other bbs are due to other users' FUD: rumours, speculation and that's about it!

What did you write in your letter? I'd be interested to know!

Nic0,

yes you are basically correct. I haven't got an exact copy of letter (idiot!) but the general arguments went like this:

1) SE say the software is not ready
2) However T68i has been out nearly a month
3) T68m = T68i but with different software
4) Why, then, isn't software ready?
5) Why, then, is the T68i more expensive than T68m
6) Why is it being released at different times in different markets.

It probably won't achieve much but I needed to vent...

It's fair enough. Granted, the rumours and nonsense being posted all over the net are so frustrating it's enough for me to direct some of this towards a post to Watchdog!

I think one of the more powerful points is that the T68 was sold on the basis of features that are still not implemented. I also think that SE are responsible for some of the rumours, and the SP are even worse! They are ALL responsible - but they are also partly under Ericsson's control. The fact is: there should be rumour control like any other company and they should be educating their call center staff not to bullshit around and say things like "week 24" or "end of the week" when they haven't truly got a clue: it's merely a ruse to get the caller off the line and the operator onto a new caller!

Bah! Can you feel my anger?

"I think one of the more powerful points is that the T68 was sold on the basis of features that are still not implemented. "

Yeah, exactly. SE may be staying within the letter of the law with their actions, but they are straying pretty close to being outside the spirit of the law.

I bought this phone on the strength of those features and 7-8 months later I still do not have them. I mean would people accept that for most other products? I normally change my phone every 12 months, so at this rate I may get 3 months use out of my new features. Great!

I think it's also the fact that they won't give us a straight answer, they're either stalling or they've got really bad communication within the company.

I agree, I had also intended to complain to Watchdog, the upgrade is not "a week late" it has been promised and delayed for months, the t68 was sold on the promise of mms, picture phone book etc. It was only when ScumEricsson realised they could make more money by releasing a "new" phone in the T68i, and then postponing postponing postponing the upgrade promised . There are many people who already have had the upgrade on the t68m because they have friends at ScumEricsson, the upgrade WORKS, that we know for sure.

UK consumer law says a product must be fit for the purpose for which it was purchased, I purchased my T68 to use with mms, on June 1 my Network will implement mms, at that time ScumEricsson has broken the Sale of Goods Act.

So I do believe Watchdog should be advised and should take action.
