Has anyone given then GPWare voice activated navigation system a shot? There's a lifetime or monthly subscription. I'm thinking of getting this today. I haven't seen anything close to this on a mobility scale. My car has a voice activated GPS system, but this beats it by a mile. Seems like it works better then the setup I have for my Pocket PC.

I primarily want to use this when I'm on foot or emergency purposes. I'm satisfied the GPS system in my car. However, I'm curious about the option that allows one to remotely track another individual via their pc. Imagine talking to someone on the phone in another country that can track exactly where you're moving (by foot) via their pc. Haven't seen that technology anywhere else except with the On-Star that's available in my H2. Imagine having your personal 'On-Star' like system on a true mobility scale. This is low level stuff, but the potentials are beyond what I've seen with Wayfinder. Although, the Traffic update would be nice. GPWare said they will make it available soon.
When you stated the Voice recognition was 'dodgy' I wasn't sure if you were referring to its ability to recognize speech or ability to give accurate information. I called the access # and automated system sounded very clear to me.
Anywho, I'll be in Japan next month for a bit. I'll be using the Foma N900i when I'm out their. They have voice recognition GPS system services that routes destination simply from phone #s. How cool is that!!! That's something I think the Western market is slowly moving into.. It almost seems standard in most high-end mobile phones over there.

Well, I bought it and I've had no issues with voice commands. I tested it in worst case conditions like outdoors + speakerphone. I was surprised that the system picked up my voice fairly well with the wind blowing and especially the fact that I was dictating with the phone in speakerphone mode. I am in the process of testing the 'spot pal' feature that allows one to send an instant message to a pal to invite them to track your current geographical position. I'm using a Socket Com. BT GPS receiver by the way. I have seen post on this forum that states that this receiver was not able to support 'GPS Routing'. Socket Com. has since upgraded the hardware firmware to allow that capability. Pairing was a synch and the access time is fairly decent. The re-route request response time seems to be above what I expected it to be.. So far so good.
