Does anyone know where i can get a spare part for my P900???
Last week after taking my P900 out of my pocket, somehow the screen had cracked

I managed to find a replacement screen and when it arrived i started to dismantal my phone (Not a good idea if you don't know what your doing as i now know). When i removed the main board there's a pcb ribbon going from the toggle/volume switch to the board and this has split in two

so i need a replacement ribbon or complete toggle/volume switch.
Regards
Rick

Oh now Rick! That's exactly what I was afraid of when I opened my P900. Did the replacement screen work? Is everything other than the jog dial working? Please let us know how you make out with the ribbon part.

Hey Floydspin, Everything works ok but i've not got any sound at the moment, i've worked out how to remove/replace the ribbon without breaking it, just need to find somewhere or someone that can supply me with one!!!

How many pins are there on the ribbon? If you were totally stuck couldn't you just rewire it your self?? Some fine wire and a soldering iron are the only things you'd need i would guess?

Rick,
What's the trick in taking out the PCB in order to plug-in the LCD ribbon? Sorry to hear about the sound your P900. Is that connected to the Jog/dial? Cheers...

@Burgaz .... I tried to hard wire it with no joy there's at least 4 resistors on the connector which even fall off when you breathe on them.
I've managed to locate a complete jog dial from the net after surfing all night

( so i'll let you know how it goes once i receive it.
@Floydspin .... The trick is to very slowly lift the main board up so that you can see the jog dial connector, use something long like a screw driver or i used a pair of tweezers and lift the connector from the main board.

) then you can remove the screen cover and there you have it, the tricky bit comes to when you want to put it back together...
To do this you will notice that the jog dial connector has a small hole on it, you need to align this with the back cover of the P900 then connect the screen connector and slowly put the main board back into place, once in place you need to press hard in the area of where the connector is and if luck is on your side it will clip into place, you can check by lifting the board up a bit, if it hasn't then try again.
This hopefully is the main reason why i've lost sound, and should get it back once the new jog dial arrives.... it's just a matter of waiting now!!!!

Rick

I got the screen from Ebay, brand new bargin price of £80.00, i've seen them on the following web site also.
The Jog dial did take some time to find but in the end it was worth it, that was found at
http://www.globalmob.com/cart[....]hp?productid=168&cat=75&page=1
I've got itchy feet at the moment waiting for my part to arrive at least i've got a picture but no sound!!! i hope it arrives soon!!!
Regards
Rick
