Hello!

Referring to this topic http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=42320 I want to kwon if it is a limitation for MIDlets (like Webviewer or jBrowser) in the T610 (or maybe every mobile with MIDP1.0) that the phone disconnects the internet connection (GRPS or GSM) after the MIDlet is getting the data (ie HTML pages) automatically?

Would the only possibility to keep the connection open to send data every few seconds or is there a parameter in J2ME like idle timeout?

Does anyone noticed this behaviour or does my T610 have a bug or could this deal with a limitation of my provider (E-Plus/Germany).

Many Thanks for your suggestions!
Maruan.

@ Maruan,

sorry i forgot your posting on 03-02-2004

yes i have new firmware on my t610 and that doesn't solve the problem

But its not a bug on your t610 but i think on most phones and with all the java browsers i use (Webviewer-Jwapbrowser ect) the same. Just diconnect after a couple of sec when not used.
And its also not the fault of E-PLUS. But i can live with it since i use GPRS...

Thanks a lot for your reply! I take a lot of time on searching the web and couldn't find a answer.

So I think I also have to live with this, although I m not very happy about because E-Plus takes for every GPRS connection a minimum fee. It is a pity that it isnt possible to configure something like a connection timeout in the T610.

Salute, maruan.

P.S. I also now have new firmware (R4C003) so definitely it dosent due to this.

If you think about this .... if everyone that has a cell phone with GPRS had full-time connection to the net then msg-packets would be clogging the network and the system would overload and come to a grinding halt .... so the little bit of effort it take to refresh/or reload the current page is minimal... so lets all be thankful for GPRS and for some of us it is unlimited and included in our basic service plans.
