> Picture size problem in t610
Bookmark topic
I was thinking about upgrading from t68i to t610 but there are few things which i want to know first before i buy t610. One of them is picture size problem. I took some pics with my t68i and mca30 and transfered them to my friends t610. Size of those pics in my phone was about 15k each and in t610 each pic was about 50k in size. That t610 has software version r1l i think. Is this bug fixed in new firmware releases?

no, its not fixed and its not a bug. its actually a design feature which has been discussed countless times.
the following is copied from
this thread (topic 31856)

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Customer Care Center.
This is regarding your inquiry concerning the Sony Ericsson mobile phone T610. The size of a picture in T610 under Memory Status and Picture Information is different. This is the reason:
1. When pictures are received by the phone they are decoded to an ebm-file (Ericsson bitmap) stored in the file system, which means that there are two copies of the picture.
2. The size in (INFORMATION) does not include the ebm-files.
3. The size in (MEMORY STATUS) includes the size of the ebm-files.
4. When you send a picture , it is the size in the (INFORMATION) that is sent.
