Hi
I know there are several posts on this topic but I had a couple questions/concerns of my own that I didn't want to add to an old post
I've just received my new Martin Fields SP...The first time I put it on there were bubbles everwhere so I took it off (does anyone have a better way to get them off other than sticking your nail under it?) and then I put it on again...There are still a couple of tiny bubble spots and what can only be described as 'bits' dotted about. The screen was spotless when I put it on and I wasn't in a dusty area.
I know I could ask for advice on putting one on but the answerrs would be nothing different than what has been said before...I guess there's just a nack to it

I really don't want to take it off a second time unless I really have to.
What has me miffed is that you still get smudges and finger prints all over it..Something which apparentlty the Brando make doesn't suffer from.
Sooo, I've just spent a tenner on the MFSP and I'm thinking of getting a brando off eBay...Has anyone used both? Any Pros/Cons? I think the MFSP is generally considered better but the adsence of fingerprints on the Brando(?) would be a big plus for me..
Any advice/opinions on this would be appreciated
Thanks
Regards
Jon

Dude, it took me like 18 or 20 tries before I got the MF protector on perfectly. If it gets smudges, wash it. If it gets dusty, wash it. If it gets bubbles, try prying it up with some sort of razor blade. That way you never touch the side that makes contact with the screen with your finger.
WELL WORTH IT once you get it on correctly - looks like it ISN'T there.

A few months ago, somebody (sorry, but I can't recall his Username), suggested using masking tape to take-off the screen protector (any kind).
I've tried it, and it works!

Hmmmmm... as you will come to realise, esato is a kind of a cult; there are some rules. One of them is that Martin Fields Overlay Plus is brilliant and it's a must have P800/P900 add on. What a load of bull. It will never go on perfectly and anyway is totally unnecessary. I'll get killed for saying that.
On the other hand the Martin Fields battery extender is brilliant and will kill the sloughs in your phone like a defragmentation tool does to your hard drive. Martin Fields is a marketing genius.

I have the brando screen protector and my conclusion is: what a load of crap. (I'm sure this is the case with most screen protectors)
It does exactly what it says on the tin, fair enough, but there is no possible way of not getting something stuck underneath it, even if you are in a dust free area. I must say, however, it does not get fingerprints on it like the MF, that is one good thing, but where are the rest of the pro's?
The best way i got it on was by washing it (for the 30th time, no joke - ridiculous) and leaving the water on it, not trying to dry it, which causes more problems, laying it down then working from top to bottom with the stylus. (btw, i use ducktape to take it off, which works well). Finally it went on with no bubbles, but still some "bits" underneath and annoyingly visible, to me anyway.
I stuck with it for a week but eventually took it off as the bits really started annoying me. Once i had taken it off, i could not believe it, the colour and brightness was fantastic, i didn't realise what i had been missing. The screen protector made the screen dull and lifeless!
Now I am in fear of scratching the screen and tempted to put it back on (i am a fairly heavy user).
So, in conclusion, you have to ask yourself a question, do you want precision, great colour, brightness and writing smoothness, but live in fear of scratching the beloved P900...?
...or do you want duller colours, the rougher writing feel, put up with a few "bits", but live in the safety of knowing your screen isn't getting scratched underneath?

Oh the mfop does go on perfectly - you just need the right conditions. I am fortunate enough to be in a university department where we have a cleanroom. So I donned the funny white suit for the sake of a dust free P900 screen. It is perfect!!! No dust. Not sure I could have acheived this anywhere else though. The smudging is a pain but nothing a soft cloth doesn't cure. I am afraid I am a bit anal when it comes to constantly wiping the smudges with my t-shirt.

To create an artificial dust free room for applying the screen protector go into the shower cubicle turn the hot water on after a couple of minutes it will all be smoked up the water vapour keeps the dust particles from flying around and you can have a dust free screen protector. To get the bubbles away apply top down and use a credit card or like to squezee the bubbles away.
IMO the screen prtectors are a very important accessory for the P800/900

I always used a creditcard to apply the screenprotector, you won't have any bubbles then

Martin Fields is the BEST around, i mean, seriously... i'll tell you why
it's because it's so darn difficult to put the protector on which makes the screen protector so good. it really STICKS to your screen, so you can't see it at all!
the bubbles are caused ONLY by dust, little specks of them. air is seldom the main cause of the bubbles.
you cuold wash it, but the most efffective way is to use masking tape. don't use the yellow kind, use the transparent type. use a thick roll (width), big enough for your screen protector.
tape is the easiest and least dangerous way to remove your protector too - just stick the tape on one end of the protector, and pull UP. careful though - try not to leave any residue on your dear protector. i've got a small speck on mine, in the edge, but it's nothing, really
stick the sticky side of the screen protector onto the sticky side of the transparent tape. the dust'll stil on the tape. don't stick the WHOLE protector onto the transparent tape - leave a small small little bit for you to hold onto. the carefully, from top to bottom, apply the protector. if you're daring, after some point, just let go of the protector, and the protector will fall onto the screen, and stick to it like... a magnet.
OH YEA, don't forget! your screen must be dust-free too! id on't know how you'll do this, but use a lint-free cloth to wipe off every single speck. (in case you don't know, lint-free cloth is like the one provided with the t610)
after you've stuck the protector on, there may still be some annoying little specks of dust. get a credit card or something, press down, and try to move them to the side. I guess you'll just have to be careful, at the same time applying enough force.
hope this helps! if not just bring it to DOML. if there's an outlet nearby, (or even far away), i recommend you bring it to them. you may damage your screen protector trying again and again to put it on. if there's an outlet, the first thing you should do is bring it there...
oh, if your country's on the tropics, don't forget to turn the aircon on before attempting it. you get really annoyed and frustrated with the heat after trying repeatedly to apply the protector. you need to be calm and cool

Hi
Thanks very much for all your replies....I did forget to mention one make, the synbian...I think I might give it a try one day...
I think I'll stick with my MFP for now...There are still bits n stuff on it but I'll leave it as long as pos...Until it really starts to bug me. Then I'll take up some of the advice here...The masking tape and the shower trick sounds cool and the credit card thing too
Thanks again everyone
Jon
