OK, I guess you'll have to be patient with me these weeks
The game V-Rally sometimes refuses to start because of low memory. What can I do about it? A guy that demonstrated the P900 to me had some sort of a task manager, reminscent of those 3rd-party apps for Pocket PC, with which he could select "close all" and conserve memory.
I don't know anything about the Symbian operating system yet, but it appears to be multitasking. How can I clear the memory without restarting the phone?
Also, if I click on V-Rally again, it sometimes starts, as if the second click boosted the memory somewhat. How does all this work?

sounds a little like the flush facility in SMan which you can get from
http://renegade.w3xs.com/ (read the manual to understand how to setup the snapshot that the flush uses)

Just a comment. The flush option in SMan only closes applications. Same is true to other similar utilities (Switcher, TaskMan, HandyDay). While this surely frees up a lot of memory, several unused processes are still left behind in memory that can accumulate when using the device for a prolonged time without reboot. SymbianWare's TaskMan can list those processes (as opposed to tasks=applications). A better cleaning up of RAM would mean eliminating all unused processes, not just the applications.

I agree absolutely but SMan has always done enough for me to run Vrally and its free.
On the other hand
TaskMan is only 6 euros so I guess its a small price to pay for a great app

@zol
I don't think Symbian is all the good with memory management. SMan has an option to allow all running processes to be listed, hidden or not. I personally don't blame SMan for the lack of memory after flushing all tasks, but Symbian. A simple restart solves the problem, but I don't think that should be necessary.
I still like this OS much better than Palm though. (And I never had problems like this with Palm, then again I was never this anal when it came to memory on my Clie either.)

I've never had those problems on Palm either. Symbian seems to suck at memory management. Well, I'm getting one of those apps for sure.
