Sanyo's latest Sprint phone boasts an integrated camera with flash and many other camera bells and whistles. Add in Push-To-Talk functionality and Sprint has a solid new model.
Billed as "The camera phone with more", the PM-8100 is a flip-phone design measuring 84.8 x 47 x 26 mm and weighing only 102 grams. It boasts dual 65k color TFT LCD displays, 1.8" inside and a 1" exterior screen, as well as a built-in speakerphone. THe external display supports photo-caller id, courtesy of either downloaded images or the built-in camera.
The camera is a VGA camera with auto-focus lens as well as a built-in 4-mode camera flash, a rare feature on camera phones. Users can also attach up to 10 seconds of voice recordings to a picture. The camera includes a digital zoom, multi-shot, and a self-timer. Users can also attach decorative borders to images.
As mentioned, the phone also includes the Sprint PCS Ready Link, Sprint's Push-To-Talk service, as well as SMS. It does not support MMS, however. A 2.5 mm headset jack is included. The included Lithium-Ion battery is rated for 1.7 hours of talk time or 17 hours standby. An extended LiIon battery boasts 5.38 hours of talk time and a methuselan 488 hours of standby time while in digital mode.
The PM-8200 is available in the USA in three colors from Sprint for $279.99 USD, or currently for $129.99 USD after rebates,
