Ok I forgot to ask this question together with my backgroud issue (wich is solved now, thanks:)
I read some postings below about 'flashing' the phone's software to a newer software version. Can this be done by myself or do I need to go to my reseller ? (is he obligated to do this ? I can"t imagine that he will upgrade all the ericsson's he sellls for nothing...)
Since my last 2 Nokia phones I'm *really* worried about this fact, 2nd last nokia was a 7110 . this machine would crash at least ones on a month (it loved to crash when you tried to open the phonebook) and mostely it was not a "simple" crash, removing the battery was mostely the only way to get the phone back up.
My last nokia phone (8850) was even more dramatic, if the connection with the provider would drop (so the operator logo disappears) while you're typing an sms message, the phone would freeze (removing the battery to get it back up). This could seem trivial, but here I have a bad connection , and also, when you are typing an sms you hold the fone in your handpalm wich covers the interal antenne...so you lose connection pretty fast. Besides this problem the calling-volume of the phone would be equal on level 5 or 4, there was _no_ difference. (and on level 5 the sound would get transformed after a few seconds).
(I also had display problems, wich I solved by putting in a rubber so the display couldnt move anymore...but this is a hardware problem)
So in both cases my problems would be (mostely) solved if I could upgrade my phone's software version to a less buggy one. But unfortunately this wasnt possible with my Nokia phones (as far as I'm aware of)

if you use the search function you'll find the answer.... it's been discussed over and over again
but in short:
you can't update the software yourself, it must be done by a

servicepoint. Leave the phone either to the nearest

dealer or directly to a servicepoint
