My trusty pal of 1 year and 3 months was reacting abnormally yesterday. Its battery level was drained very quickly even after full charge. Initially, I had thought it was the year old battery having leakage. Went to buy another battery within the day and though problem was not that drastic, the battery again did drain quite considerably.

At about 8pm today, I switch off my phone to reboot it. That was the last time my buddy ever function properly. Upon restart, the OS became very very sluggish. Took a long time just to get from menu to menu.

Sigh... what a black day... the Nicoll Highway in my country collasped; I just came down with a flu; and now... my buddy stopped functioning...

Warranty is over. Will send it in to SE service centre tomorrow. There will be a surcharge before they will access the problem and let me know how much it will take to repair it. Forsee that it will cost a bomb. May get another P800 or even upgrade to the P900... (and kill myself financially...)

He man,

something similar happend to my p800 once.

Can you still turn the phone on?And access the menus?

Because if you cannot turn the phone on and get to the menus you should wait for 24 hours and than again turn the phone on,than you will see an message that says:the internal file system was found to be corrupted and wil be resetted. After this restore a backup and your phone should be back on-line.

But I do not know if this applies to your case, but you can at least wait for 24 hours.

Hope it wll be fixed soon!

Greetings

Devices covered by warranty for one year are designed to stop working after one year. Thats my theory anyway.

Your phone could have a virus on it. This message was posted from a P900

Hey Roel van der Burgt, that's exactly what happened. I did not wait 24 hrs though... Just 2 hrs later, when I switched the phone on again, I got the message you mentioned.

I had since reformatted the internal drive, did a restore and now it is working fine... I hope...

My backup was done several months ago. Guess I should have been more vigilant. Now I have to delete and re-intall whatever I need and then do another backup...

Thanks guys, you all are the best...

Say, a happy ending after all...

Yeah well comiserations on the phone and the Highway too. I agree, most things covered by a warranty just go kaput after a year. Planned Obselecense its called, I think.

Go get a P900, though at SGD1380 at M1, it is a bit steep. Alternatively, you could take this all as a sign - take the money you would have spent on a new-shmoo P900 and give it to the (inevitable) fund set up for the three dead/missing people in the collapse. Must have been a terrible shock for everyone in Singapore, though true to form, the complaints are already coming in about how the traffic is diverted etc etc.
