right erm wel ive just recently got meself a new z600 fone, and have been looking to download like themes and stuff, but you have to pay which is a lil harsh.

So then i heard about the bluetooth transfer thing (from pc to phone), so i woz wondering if any1 out there could fill me in a little on everything to do with that...

1. How does the bluetooth thingy work?
2. were can i get 1 from?
3. is it simple to use once you have 1?
4. and finally does any1 know of any other sites which have themes/ringtones and so on for the Z600?

id be well happy if any1 who has a Z600 and uses the bluetooth thingy or if any1 has any in-depth information about it could post back, coz im really puzzled lol

stupid, i know

cheers anyway lee

Congrats on the new phone. here goes:

1. Bluetooth is a wireless data protocol commonly used for mobiles and computers, but also printers, mice, PDAs and other electronic peripherals. It works by transferring data via a radio signal. more in depth info can be found at http://www.bluetooth.org or http://www.bluetooth.com, and elsewhere on this forum (try here)

2. To use bluetooth you will need either a bluetooth USB dongle or PCI card (or PCMCIA card for a laptop) manufactured by a reputable company (e.g. TDK, Belkin, D-Link to name a few). There are many threads here of people expressing their preferences for one brand or another ( I personally use a D-Link USB dongle). You can find them if you
The USB dongle will be the cheapest and simplest option, and can be purchased from most medium to large electronics stores, and some specialty mobile/PDA/computer goods retailers. If your PC already has bluetooth built in, you may save yourself some money but Microsoft implementation of BT is still a bit hit-and-miss so test it out first.

3. BT is simple to use provided you follow the instructions precisely. Before plugging the device in read both the manual for the dongle and your phone manual. DO NOT just plug the dongle in. You will need to install drivers on your PC and perhaps some other peripheral software (e.g. object exchange software, the software on the CD that came with your Z600). I cannot stress enough - read the instructions.

4. If you go to this forum on esato, you will find many threads and links to free themes.

You will also find many answers to common questions (including BT and synching with Outlook) in this thread:

Hope this is all helpful, and let us know if you run into any problems.
